“Fix ASU”
This is the unofficial to-do list for Arizona State University. Make ASU better by voting for and suggesting ideas. The administration has been informed of this page and we’ll remind them of it regularly!

Stop covering the school in manure
Honestly, people are going to walk on the grass, and we don't care if it's not fully green anyways. It's awful having to walk around the school when 2 months out of the year it smells like a garbage dump.

Generate .ics (ICAL) subscriptions for class schedules
My.ASU.edu can generate a weekly calendar, but only for viewing or printing. I should be able to subscribe (or download) an .ics calendar subscription. This would allow us to view our classes in Google Calendar, Apple iCal, Outlook, and even on the iPhone.

look into the matter how students are employed at the bookstore.
There is a lady sitting at the bookstore office who takes the resume's of all the students who come to apply for the bookstore positions. She never forwards them to the upper management because she thinks only those who have worked in bookstore before must be employed and not anybody else. This is ridiculous!

Bring back the money rewards for the best ideas.
ASU President Coor tried and then stopped them years ago.

not require vouchers for season pass holders
students who purchase the $100 season passes should be able to attend all of the games. why should we pay that money if we cannot attend the games we are paying for?

stop pursuing research success over student success
ASU continually raises tuition, parking, and other fees while its research flourishes. The students always get the short end of the stick.

Make grades easier to check
Why does the current view-grades process log out every ~10 minutes, and not work with my brower's remember-password functionality, and make me choose the freaking semester each time? Doy! I’m checking the current semester!

Let incoming freshmen live off campus if they choose
According to Michael Coakley, associate dean of student affairs and executive director of housing, all incoming freshmen next fall will have to live in the dorms. There are plenty of people that can hardly afford college while living at home or in a close apartment, making them pay high rates and a meal plan to live in the dorms is not something that will help attract more students or let low income students attend college.

I believe the AZ constitution has a mandate that higher education should be “as nearly free as possible.” This would indeed suggest that living on campus be completely optional

Set up bike theft sting operations
Everyone knows bikes at ASU get stolen all the time. In fact, if you left a bike unlocked at ASU (or a nice bike locked) at ASU overnight, for even one night, it would be gone. Everyone knows it, yet nobody tries to stop it. Wouldn't it be nice if, once a month, ASU police set up a "bait" bike and then waited to arrest the people who tired to steal it at night.

This is a great idea! I attempted to forward this to the ASU Police department but they are hard to contact & their email address bounces (nice!).

Develop a better system for the math tutoring center
Getting a tutor's attention in the Math Tutoring Center is like fighting a pack of wolves for the last piece of meat ont he carcass. Annumber system or some sort of electronic turn taking program might help, that place is chaos. Some of the tutors will completely ignore everyone else for one student. There is one guy who works in there, all he does is tutor the best looking girls and ignore everyone else. ASU should fix the Math Department in general, it is a machine and they don't care if the students struggle or not. I can't believe I… more

Explain how registering for classes works
This semester I noticed that registering for classes have been staggered - some people get to register before others - with no clear explanation why some get to register before others.

printing
Printing at ASU is an environment enemy.

This is rather vague. Are you suggesting that homework, professors’ assignments, finished assignments, syllabi and the like be digital?

Sell the turbines on top of the Sustainability building
Question: Why can the turbines on top of the School of Sustainability building be seen spinning when there is no wind in the trees?
Answer: Because they are being spun by motors to give the appearance they are generating electricity.
ASU should do the right thing: stop pretending, recoup the cost of the turbines by selling them, and make real progress toward Sustainability.22 votes -
fix the elevators in PSA/Wexler Hall
The elevators in PSA are in extreme disrepair. One has even been walled off. Wexler Hall currently only has one working elevator to service 8 floors of people (and 2 basements)! On top of that, the algorithm seems to have been developed by a CSE 100 student because the elevators sometimes don't even go to the correct floor.
